Slovak Republic is a landlocked and located in the heart of Europe. It is rich in natural wildness and biodiversity values. However, it is among the states with highest measurable CO2 emissions in Europe. SGP can make great impact by utilizing natural resources for living for local people. SGP Slovak supports 4 focal areas: energy efficiency; usage of renewable energy sources; environmental sustainable transport and cross-cutting issues related to energy and climate change. On project level, emphasis are placed on projects which line up to GEF criteria as well as community needs. SGP Slovak was launched in 2009. SGP represents an important additional source for co-funding for sustainable environmental and livelihood development. The programme intends to seek energy security in regions, support green economy and social inclusion.
